How to create a better morning routine
When you create a plan and get into a routine, everything moves smoother. Help re-energize your days by creating a plan that will help you accomplish your goals and keep you on track.
Here is a quick list for you to start implementing into your life to help you create a better morning routine:
Get up at the same time every day
Getting up a the same time everyday is good for your body. It starts to learn your habits and will eventually start waking you up at the same time daily even without an alarm clock. Set your alarm for the same time every day no matter what, you don’t want your internal clock to get thrown off. Even on the weekends!
Stop hitting snooze
This goes hand in hand with getting up on time every time. Have you ever noticed that you hit snooze and then you feel even more tired afterwards? It’s because REM sleep is your best sleep and its normally an hour to two hours long. Hitting snooze won’t make you feel any better, so it’s best if you just go ahead and get up ASAP.
Get up and going quickly, don’t lay around in bed
When you get up and moving quickly, it will help your body wake up. If you lay around in bed to “wake up” you will start to feel lazy and sluggish. Don’t hang out and check your news feed, get up. Even if its just to get a drink or go take your daily vitamins.
Get a morning workout in
Working out in the morning is a great way to get your body moving. When you workout in the morning it actually releases bad toxins, the ones that affect our sleep. Try doing a simple yoga routine or maybe a quick jog outside, it’ll be great to get some natural light.
Here is what my morning routine looks like:
- Wake up
- Make my bed
- Run and listen to music or a podcast while running
- Make and eat a smoothie
- Get dressed & do hair/makeup
- Make a To Do list
I have all of this finished by roughly 10am and then I start on my To Do list and cross off the smaller items. (Quick tid bit to explain the rest of my day. When I am ready, I grab some lunch and take a little break. After lunch I head back to my list and complete my larger tasks and finish up my day.)
Hopefully these quick tips help you in some way have a better morning routine. It surely has changed my days for the better.
