The Secret to Soothing Sore Muscles Revealed!

Don’t worry, I’m not going to say drink more water or take MSM… that’s good for prevention, but not exactly what you’re looking for when you’ve slept weird or did a little more (or any) exercise that you’re used to!

Most likely you reach for that well known muscle rub that feels so good & smells SO strong, right?  You know what I’m talking about!  Look on the back and see what the medicinal/active ingredients are; camphor, eucalyptus, menthol & methyl salicylate (followed by a ton of other ingredients; most unnecessary & synthetic!).

Not familiar with that last ingredient?  Don’t worry, I had to look up the official name too!  It’s wintergreen; a berry/plant used for medicinal purposes since it was stumbled upon!  Your body metabolizes it into salicylates, including salicylic acid, which is an NSAID (pain reliever).  Making some connections?!

Now that we have the sciency part out of the way…

ALL 4 of those ingredients are actually plants!  Not how they show up in the muscle rubs on the shelves, but all of these muscle rubs are literally saying that plants work.  Aka stating that topical application of essential oils works!

SO, camphor, eucalyptus, mints & wintergreen are all essential oils that are available to you (and are affordable too!) to make your OWN muscle rub or roller.  That way you know exactly what’s going on & in your body and that the ingredients are pure & unadulterated!  PLUS they’re proven to work; can this get any better?!

Actually, YES!  For some, anyhow.  DIY isn’t for everyone; even if it’s SUPER easy.  There’s actually a muscle rub that I trust and use if you want to go that route!

So, secret revealed?  WINTERGREEN essential oil!  Only a very small amount is needed; you can use a drop in a carrier oil, make a roller or make a muscle rub to utilize this secret!  I personally have a roller (for when I don’t want to get my hands “dirty”) and also a rub with wintergreen, peppermint, clove, eucalyptus, lavender & marjoram.  Play around with the oils, but I would DEFINETLY start with wintergreen obviously!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not grab wintergreen “essential oil” off of the shelf in the grocery store though!
